Nigerian Youth SDG Network to recognize ‘100 Youth SDG Champions’

The Nigerian Youth SDG Network is set to recognize the work of 100 outstanding young Nigerians working towards the successful realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) across Nigeria, says Joshua Alade, the Network’s projects coordinator.

“There are excellent yet hidden young SDG champions in our country who have been leading wonderful community-driven efforts aimed at achieving Agenda 2030,” says Alade. “Recognizing such champions is vital as it will motivate them to make even greater contributions towards the successful realization of the SDG in Nigeria. Their stories and achievements will also motivate fellow young people to work for the Global Goals.”

Alade, who said the work of the young SDG champions would be profiled in an inaugural youth diary for the SDG scheduled to be launched on August 12, 2018 added that the 100 Youth SDG Champions will also serve as ambassadors for the Nigerian Youth SDGs Network in their respective states.

“The Nigerian Youth SDG Network which is a coalition of youth-focused and youth-led civic organisations working towards the successful realization of Agenda 2030 strongly believes in the power of young people; their energy, creativity and idealism have the capacity reshape our nation into a healthier, safer, equitable and sustainable country,” said Alade.
